Cases and vaccinations as of **Thursday 16 September 2021**.

*As predicted, the Llanidloes weekly average is now eye watering, at 72 / 1107.4. It has surpassed any numbers since I have done these stats. Cases don't carry the same weight, the fact we are at level 0 with this number of cases is a testament to the vaccination programme. However, cases do put a strain on the health service and does in some way impact health. It also loses consumer confidence too, people won't go out to support local businesses. So it is in our interests to take all necessary precautions. *

*I have no idea why the mobile testing unit has not moved to Llanidloes from Machynlleth. As a reminder you can get a testing kit hrough the post, Newtown is open from 8.30am - 8pm and accepts walk ins. You can also book an appointment online.*

*Arwystli Medical Practice has stated that "Lateral flow tests are only to be used as a screening tool for people without symptoms. They are not to be relied upon if you have symptoms. ... If you are symptomatic then you must follow guidance on isolation and book a PCR test ... The important symptoms are:*
* *A high temperature >37.8*
* *A new, continuous cough*
* *Loss / change in sense of taste or smell *
* *Flu like illness"*

Newtown testing station is open from 8.30am.

Why has this happened so quickly? Too many people not wearing masks and especially not sanitising hands before entering shops. Perhaps we need staff back on the doors reminding people at the moment, with numbers high in the Town, that it is necessary!

The High school children went back in 02/09 with a NO MASK wearing policy in school. On 08/09, we then had a message from the school to say this had now changed to COMPULSORY mask wearing in the school. Confusing mixed messages for the children and the community. Also the symptoms for people who have had 1 or 2 x doses of the vaccine are different to the ones listed above.....

This whole situation with the schools seems a complete shambles

Symptoms for vaccinated (1 and 2 doses) plus unvaccinated from C19 ZOE study is now in this post: www.facebook.com/groups/228361681637895/posts/579946559812737/

C19 Symptoms -** this varies whether you've had two doses, one dose, not vaccinated**. This is from King's College London and is a result of an ongoing study since March 2020.

**Two vaccinations**

Ranking of symptoms after 2 vaccinations:
* Headache
* Runny nose
* Sneezing
* Sore throat
* Loss of smell

"The previous ‘traditional’ symptoms as still outlined on the government website, such as anosmia (loss of smell), shortness of breath and fever rank way down the list, at 5, 29 and 12 respectively. A persistent cough now ranks at number 8 if you’ve had two vaccine doses, so is no longer the top indicator of having COVID."

**One vaccination**

Ranking of symtoms after 1 vaccination:
* Headache
* Runny nose
* Sore throat
* Sneezing
* Persistent cough

"One of the original indicators of a persistent cough has made the top 5 symptoms, but still comes below sneezing and a runny nose in rankings, which were previously thought to be unrelated to infection."

**Not vaccinated**

Ranking of symptoms if you have not been vaccinated:
* Headache
* Sore Throat
* Runny Nose
* Fever
* Persistent cough

"The symptoms are more recognisable to the traditional original ranking, however we can still observe some changes from when COVID-19 first appeared over a year ago. Loss of smell comes in at number 9 and shortness of breath comes far down the list at number 30, indicating the symptoms as recorded previously are changing with the evolving variants of the virus."

Interesting. I only had one of those symptoms as a non vaccinated person. As did the rest of my family...

Is it a cold or covid? Get a test.

I've suffered with sinus problems for years so occasional headaches running nose and sneezing are almost a daily occurance for me

My daughter in Carmarthen had COVID in December and she had just the symptoms described here, a sore throat and headache though she did also lose her sense of smell.

Both my children have tested positive, 1 had a sore throat, the other a runny nose!!!

Why do I have to drive my daughter to Mach to get a test when COVID is rife in Llani? Seems a bit bonkers to me. ... See MoreSee Less

Comment on Facebook

Newtown have been accepting walk ups without an appointment, you just have to register the test online afterwards

Try waiting til 10am? I found that only mach coming up in the morning but friend waited til 10am and newtown came up

Just go to Newtown as a walk in.... 👌🤞👌

Newtown is open from 1pm. I have already contacted PTHB to ask if the mobile unit could be moved here. They told me to watch the usual channels for any change. Mach was high recently but it has been dropping in cases all week, we overtook them on Monday. The LHB has been very slow to react, switching the location of the mobile testing unit. It could be they only plan on a weekly basis, but the MSOA data is time lagged and they have a much better gauge of cases than the likes of me. They need to be more responsive on this.

I have booked a postal test. Thank you for your tips.

I ordered more tests to our address on Tuesday 6.30pm, they were with us the next day.

I’d recommend home tests - we booked a home test Sunday evening, arrived Monday, sent back same day. We had the results back Tuesday evening!

I asked yesterday whilst having my repeat test in Newtown, if walk-ins are available. They said yes, all day.

Here here. I ordered mine through the post x

The postal tests were easy, delivered next day, and results back the day after posting off for analysis.

I thought the same and went twice this week. Was a lovely drive but going from one rife area to another didn’t seem right at all

Newtown is a walk in

post tests we sent back tuesday and still waiting for results so not always fast

Just turn up at Newtown... Don't book or they will send u to Mach or Aber 8am - 8pm

I’ve been to Newtown tonight and it was so busy they were sending people home with postal tests.
