I hope this is ok to post - I just wondered if anybof you lovely people have any suggestions...
My elderly neighbour in Glasbury (near Hay on Wye) was rushed into Hereford hospital a month ago. Since then he was moved to Bromyard Hospital and then to Llanidloes Hospital where he is waiting for a care package to be put in place so he can come home. He went to hospital with a few clothes and I managed to get some more clothes to him last week but the hospital are saying his clothes all need washing and they have no laundry facilities. All his family are elderly and unable to help. Are there any support groups that might be able to help sort out his laundry? I think covid has complicated issues but I don’t know what to do?

Do the clothes just need collecting and washing? If so I'm just down the road in llandinam and I'll do it..

I can do his laundry if that’s what ure after. Let me know. 👏

Surely given how far from home he is the hospital could arrange something?

PAVO based in newtown is a volunteer service.

I'm happy to wash and dry his clothes if needed. Personal message me. xxx

I’m In Llanidloes too and happy to help if you still need help - please feel free to message me x

Hi , also in Llani and happy to help but looks like a few willing volunteers. Maybe if there are a few people some kind of rota could be set up if he could be there a while? Do you know if he has enough sets of clothes available? I am sure this group could organise more if needed, as well as any personal items, or care packages. They are an amazing group!

Happy to help with this if you still require assistance. Pm me

Have you tried phoning his social worker?

I’d be very happy to do this gentleman’s washing or anyone else in Llanidloes hospital at any time , if someone has no family able to do it . Could we set up a group of volunteers to help with this ??

I'm happy to help with his washing too.....

I can also do some washing for him x

I am overwhelmed by all your kind offers of help - thank you all so much!

Please also put my name on rota, will be happy to help in any way.

I’m happy to help out if needed.

Hi all - the person has probably been signposted here, to ask this question. Sometimes we get these requests via phone or even in this group. Thank you to everyone who has come forward. As you all know, we have a support line, which helps with various local requests. There is sometimes a gap in statutory services for whatever reason, that's where the voluntary sector comes in. The community e.g. being aware of no washing facilities at the hospital, allows us to help out. Absolutely not a criticism of anyone. Thank you to everyone who came forward. I think this pandemic has made us all aware of some of the issues people face, be it isolation, gaps in services and so forth. Let's hope that can continue as things come out of lockdown and build on what we've seen in the past year.

I can help, my husband works there and could bring them home, we live opposite the hospital as well.

I'm having the covid jab in the sur6in llani next Thursday afternoon just wondering what other people who have had this done in llani what their experience was like and what side effects you had if any?🤔 ... See MoreSee Less

I've been fine , no problem at All x

You won't feel it

I was in and out of the surgery in 3 minutes. You're not allowed to drive immediately afterwards (I think it is 15 minutes - I don't even remember, there is a notice as you are leaving and they also tell you). You enter the surgery around the back and leave through the front door. There are people around to guide you. The injection needle is small and goes in the top of your arm. The second member of staff inputs your details into a computer. You're then given your vaccination card which is stapled to a leaflet. The set up at Llanidloes has a gold star from me, you can't fault it and kudos to all the staff. Me, I had no side effects the first day. The next day, I felt a little rubbish in the afternoon, as if I was coming down with something and I would have appreciated being able to lie down (I was tied up so I wasn't able to). I was perfectly fine the following day. My arm was slightly sore for a few days from the 3rd day but I've had a worse sore arm from the flu vaccination. A sign of a working immune system. My mother had zero side effects, not even a sore arm. My father's arm was slightly sore. That's it.

No issues at all. No sore arm. No side effects.

I had a headache the following day but that's all. Really efficiently done. Staff were fabulous

The surgery has a great and safe system. I had bad side effects for two days after and then again 12 days after but it is worth it. Only a small percentage have a reaction so dont worry about it.

Some people I know say they don't feel the actual injection but side effects can be awful Some people are sweaty.. Sone people can go stone cold.. Some people have a headache or bad stomach or vomiting.. Some people have nothing

I have only heard good things about the set up. All the best x

Set up I've heard is Brill. Wife going Thurs too Ed There is always a chance if a reaction with anything. You have to weigh up, you have it or you don't and take your chances. I know which I'm choosing. I want to get back on the oche mate and would hope you would too.

Already weighed up the option s mate and not having itis not an option, it will be worth a few side effects to afford some peace of mind and reassurance ansi. Gonna treat myself to a slap up chippy supper and a bottle of something alcoholic as I've been a good boy food wise for too long

Hugh had his there at the beginning of February. Very well organised and no side affects at all .

The jab is over before you know it. Had a bit of an achey arm after but otherwise wouldn’t have known I had the jab!

I was a little dizzy next morning but soon passed and no other problems .

Cases as of **Friday 26 February 2021**.

*900,000 first vaccination doses have now been administered in Wales, that's 36% of adults.*

*The JCVI has stated key workers will not be prioritised in the second phase of the vaccines rollout. Age-based approach will continue - starting with 40-49, then 30-39 and finally 18-29. JCVI says: "Trying to switch from an age-based programme to an occupation-based programme would be more complex and potential introduce more delays to the programme. Speed is the critical factor here."*

*It has been strongly advised some particular groups to take up a vaccine as soon as it is offered. They are: men; people from black, Asian and minority ethnic communities; people with a BMI over 30; people living in poorer neighbourhoods.*

*Please have a good weekend.*
